SIMON REEVE

Author and Television Presenter

Simon Reeve has made documentaries and written books on international terrorism, history and his adventures across the globe. I particularly like the way he shows both the good and bad sides of a place to form a more balanced view of each culture. He is honest, charismatic and empathetic towards the many people he meets. I had the opportunity to meet him on his first tour in February 2020 and it was one of the most exciting moments meeting an idol!

PILOT MADELINE

Travel Blogger and Commercial Pilot

Madeline is a Munich based travel blogger, holding a Commercial Pilot's Licence. Her blog and photography are beautiful and along with her family she provides travel tips as well as fashion and photography advice. She has a large following on Instagram, focusing on the prettier side of travel.

THE PEOPLE

People make a journey. They can bring energy to an experience, or even just give you someone to share memories with. People can inspire your future travels as well as be inspired  by your own. Here are a few individuals that have inspired me:

Geri has contributed to magazines such as Lonely Planet and National Geographic. Her writing covers her solo travels around the world as well as looking at cultural and environmental challenges facing the planet. She is a fellow airline pilot and was a huge support to me when I wanted to start my blog.

GERI MOORE

THE BOX OFFICE

Let television transport you from your home to far flung places across the world.

Here are a few of my favourite travel shows:

Joanna Lumley's Silk Road Adventure

Joanna Lumley is the nation's sweetheart and I love her positive attitude and appreciation towards different countries and cultures as she travels. One of the journeys on my own bucket list is the Silk Road, the overland journey of traders from China to Italy, through the Stand, Georgia, Turkey and Eastern Europe. Joanna's own journey of this path is a wonder of colours and cultures as she explores the history of the traders and the importance of the posts along its route.

You can find it on Amazon Prime today for £6.99 for the series.

Race Across the World

BBC

This is one of my favourite TV shows! 6 couples race across the world to win a cash prize. The catch? They are not allowed to fly and the whole trip must be done on the price of a one way plane ticket! Let the race begin...
